Foundation Board

Foundation Board

The purpose of the Foundation is to:

1. Act as guardian of Waipuna Hospice long term assets.
2. Promote Waipuna Hospice as a worthy recipient of bequests.
3. Raise funds for major capital works.
4. Assist Waipuna Hospice wherever possible.
5. Invest and manage funds to secure the Hospice future sustainability.

Essentially, the Foundation acts as the "Financial Backstop" for Hospice.

Main Objective
The Foundation is pleased to announce that the $3m rebuild and construction of the new 8 bed inpatient unit is working extremely well. This project was an outstanding community effort.
The $3m was raised via Trusts, businesses and individuals and paved the way for a debt free project which was completed on time and under budget.

The Foundation is now focusing on establishing a robust investment portfolio which will provide a return capable of mitigating the ongoing $1m+ annual shortfall in operating expenses and ensuring a degree of 'future proofing'.

To this end we have adopted a stringent Investment Policy and have engaged the services of ABN AMRO Craigs. A programme has been established and we believe our goal will be achieved within seven years.

What Can You Do to Help Your Hospice?
The Foundation encourages you to think of your Hospice when you are contemplating a will. A bequest left in favour of the Hospice would be a wonderful and meaningful contribution.

What Happens to Bequests?
Unless a specific direction is given to the application of bequest monies you can be assured all bequests would be invested as per the Foundation Investment Policy, which will be controlled by a capable Board of Trustees together with advisors such as ABN AMRO Craigs.

The Foundation Board of Trustees
Tom Roper (Chairman) - Local Businessman
John Meldrum (Chairs Finance & Investment Committee) - Solicitor Sharp Tudhope & Co
David Cooke (Secretary/Treasurer) - Accountant - KPMG
Paul Adams (Chair Property Committee) -Proprietor - Carrus Corp
Bernard Gillon (Building Committee) - Local Businessman

An excellent Board of Trustees who are committed to achieving good outcomes for our Hospice but they cannot do it alone, they need your support.

If you wish to assist Waipuna Hospice by way of a bequest we would be most grateful. For further information please contact Waipuna Hospice or your Solicitor.
