To attain certification each nurse is required to:

  • Complete a pre-reading workbook before attending the workshop.
  • Attend a two-hour workshop, during which a practical competency assessment will be completed.
  • Complete a written test obtaining 80% minimum in the written component and 100% in the drug calculations.

Pre-reading workbooks are sent out approximately three weeks before the workshop.

Following successful completion of the workshop a Certificate of Attainment will be issued.

To maintain certification:

Nurses who have successfully completed the programme in previous years and wish to have their certificate updated need to attend an annual update during which their competencies will be tested.
